Wow – the TENTH annual Quony Cup! Over ten years ago in his junior year, Chris organized this fundraiser soccer tournament, “Answer to Cancer,” at Colorado College to raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS) in honor of his paternal grandpa who passed away from cancer, and my dad who fought cancer twice successfully.
After Chris passed away, Colorado College continued to host the event what is now “The Quony Cup” and honor Chris. Every year is different sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller, but always special. As one of Chris’ best friend, Toby Cohen, describes it, “The Quony Cup personifies everything that Chris and Evan stood for: community, giving back, CC, family, friends, love, kindness, live music, nature, sports, dance parties, Lake Forest, IL, pizza, keg beer, lawn games, and much, much more.” This year’s Quony Cup definitely embodied this and was another success!
Thank you to all the volunteers, alum, friends and CC community for another successful year. We had incredible participation, beautiful weather and competitive play. Team Deuce, which included many of Chris’ former CC soccer teammates and the Quon girls’ friends, played a hard-fought tournament and unfortunately lost in the semifinals. We are so grateful for everyone continuing to honor Chris and Evan.
Head on over to the CQF Facebook page to check out pictures from the weekend. All proceeds from the tournament and t-shirts will go to the American Cancer Society.
