QUONY CUP 2012
THANKS SOOOO MUCH to all the wonderful people at Colorado College and the great friends and teammates who made Quony Cup 2012 a huge success. Thanks especially to the driving force and our energizer bunny-Toby Cohen! It was a busy weekend and we know that the two teammates, Chris (#21) and Evan (#19), were with us in our hearts and spirit.
On Saturday, it was a very special time to be able to dedicate Evan’s bench which sits near Chris’ tree. Tony’s speech and the beautiful plaque touched us all.
Watching the CC lacrosse team play their last game of the season, as well as the soccer alumni game was a treat! Chris and Evan would be proud of their teammates – even the out-of-shape alumni! 🙂
Brendan Gangl and his band, once again, entertained the crowds on Saturday night – a special tribute to Evan and Chris!
And then…there was the Quony Cup soccer tournament on Sunday!! David, Sarah, Rachel and Kasey, along with the Spirito family and Evan’s girlfriend, Anne, were there to participate! So many teams entered…that unfortunately some had to be turned away. All money raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Chris (due to Chris’ commitment to fighting cancer) and Evan (who lost his brave fight against lung cancer last November).

Tasty food was grilled up once again, along with Chris’ favorite pizza. Shawn designed some colorful t-shirts that sold out quickly and 3 different bands played throughout the sunny day.
“Team Deuce” – a team that I thought was a bit loaded! 🙂 – were the winners of this year’s Quony Cup tournament! (Background behind the team name: In Chris’ senior year, Chris lived in the “Deuce” house -address number: 222- along with six pals- see pic below). The team included his housemates, along with his sisters, Lake Forest pals: Adam LaVitola and Rob Palutsis, and other great friends! Congrats to Team Deuce!
In case you missed it, David once again got up on the band stage, and this time instead of singing, led a group dance (much to the embarassment of his daughters!). Toby was able to catch some video – you may get dizzy, but it’s worth watching!
Here is a link to some great photos of the event from Marty Cohen. Feel free to email us with additional photos – we would love to see them!
We love you all- Colorado College and friends! It means so much to us that you have continued Chris’ fundraising event. Here’s to you Chris and Evan- we love you and miss you!
